This is a full 3 user copy of Norton Internet security 2010 with an additional disk containing Norton Utilities. It costs £10 less than buying Internet Security 3 user licence for PC on its own and as Utilities is on the second disk you do not have to install it if you dont need it. I am very pleased with this version of Norton and have saved £10 over the price of the Internet Security pack purchased on its own.

You often read or hear people moaning about Norton Internet Security. I really don't know what their problem is. I've been using Norton Internet Security for several years now. I buy the new version each year, usually from Amazon, at around half the price Symantec charge just to renew your subscription to the previous version. It has always worked well for me. A feature I particularly like is the "Identity Safe" which can store the log-ins (user name and password) to websites you visit. It means you can have a different, highly secure, password for every site while only having to remember the one for Identity Safe itself.
I bought this "Performance Pack" as I wanted to put Norton Internet Security 2010 on a netbook I had just bought and I'd already used up the 3 licences on the copy I already had. The netbook came with McAfee pre-installed but it just wasn't what I was used to. McAfee seemed to interrupt what I was doing a fair bit whereas NIS doesn't. Norton Utilities is new and unfamiliar to me. It seems to work well but just works differently to the TuneUp Utilities I am used to. Probably just a matter of getting used to it.
I've given 5 stars because both products in the pack were easily installed and both seem to do what they claim. What more can you ask?

BEST Internet Security Suite on the PLANET.! - at the moment...
Before I moved back to (NORTON Internet Security Suite 2010 with Performance Pack), I used Kaspersky Internet Security Suite 07, 08, 09 & 2010.
I found Kaspersky Internet Security Suite very, very aggressive and using up lots of system resources - however, it never let me down.
I built my own new intel i5 750 Machine with Win 7 x64 and installed NORTON ISPP 2010 whole package as it had lots of 5 stars reviews all over the internet and in Magazines.
Anyways, I must say I'm trilled to bits with the New 2010 GUI interface - 10/10 very attractive layout indeed.!
It has all the features Kaspersky KIS 2010 has +Plus lots more, even the Performance Pack with "Norton System Works" & with "Norton Utilities" it certainly helps keep everything running smooth in superb. -:
Excellent value for money, and its very easy on the CPU & MEMORY. (3 computer licences for the price of 1.) FAB :)
I can remember the day's when "Norton System Works" was £49.99 in PC World alone for the CD Package, without any Security Pack, so this is a Bargain. Its already found several attacks, trying to get past the firewall and blocked each one of them, very impressed.
Its really done a number on Kaspersky I.S this year, if it keeps up this level of security I will renew my 2011 subscription. (God willing)...

Norton Internet Security is widely rated by IT mags as current best of the crop - effective against malware and light on use of system resources. I switched to Norton from ZoneAlarm Suite last year (after trying McAfee and not getting on with it) and am glad I did.
If you want Norton Utilities too, this is a great package, combining the two products at a good saving. Otherwise, stick with the standard Norton Internet Security or, especially for less experienced users, choose Norton 360 V4 which hides the complexity and can be pretty much left to its own devices.

This version of Norton security software, bundled with Norton Utilities, installs quickly and painlessly, and has little performance impact. After installing (and downloading the inevitable updates from the internet), Norton turns off Windows Defender and the Windows firewall and replaces them, and also provides antivirus protection, which updates with tiny incremental updates every 15 minutes or so.
There is a spam filter for Microsoft Outlook, and a utility to remember login details for webpages you visit using Internet Explorer. In both cases, these are more sophisticated than the similar functionality that comes with these Microsoft products. The Norton Internet Explorer toolbar indicates whether you are on a safe website, and it also annotates search results to show which pages are safe. None of the web browser functionality works with Google Chrome.
Basic security functionality (firewall, anti-spyware and now even anti-virus) is available from Microsoft for free. The Microsoft products are very basic, and lack configurability. The Norton product is much more sophisticated and configurable, and has a very professional-looking GUI that makes use of bright friendly colours. I found some of the plethora of Norton's configuration options confusing, but the default values seem sensible, so there should be no need to change them.
The license includes additional software to allow parents to manage their childrens' internet access. If you want to use this, the program is downloaded separately.
Norton Internet Security takes a little more system resource than the Microsoft equivalents. I tried it on a Windows 7 machine with just 1GB of RAM, and the system slowed down noticeably. On a machine with more memory, this is unlikely to be much of a problem.
Norton Utilities is bundled as bonus software, on a separate disk and with a separate license key. It lets you tune your PC by defragmenting and tuning the registry, and by choosing the startup options. It also provides easy access to the built-in Windows performance-related tools, and it lets you benchmark the performance of your PC. There's not so much of a need for this nowadays, as Windows is becoming better at maintaining itself. I allowed Norton Utilities to optimise and compact my PC's registry, which worked fine, but when I asked it to optimise my Windows services, it tried to turn off my media server service - not something I wanted.
This is a good value bundle if you are not satisfied with the free security software from Microsoft. It is less obtrusive and less CPU-hungry than any other paid-for security software suite I have tried. Norton Utilities is a bonus of dubious value.
