Developed at Rebellion by the team responsible for the original 1999 classic, in the all-new Aliens vs. Predator players have the chance to take the role of the three infamous species; the Colonial Marine, the Predator and the Alien.
Each of the three species has its very own distinct story-driven single-player campaign mode that interweaves with the campaigns of the other two species. Aliens vs. Predator will also feature unique 3-way online multiplayer, allowing gamers to pit the three species against each other in the ultimate battle for survival and for the right to be crowned the deadliest species.
On planet BG-386 a colonist mining group discovers an ancient pyramid containing a dark and horrible secret. Across the stars a race of warriors is alerted to the discovery of their pyramid and a hunting party is dispatched to ensure that it remains sealed at all costs, whilst deep inside the ruined pyramid a malevolent intelligence awakes from centuries of dormancy.
The Marines story is an incredible fight against the odds, and the horrors lurking in the dark. Beset on all sides yet armed to the teeth, the Colonial Marine represents humanitys last stand with the firepower to fight back.
As the Alien, players will discover what its like to be the most murderous and lethal creature in the universe, with the ability to traverse any surface with awesome agility in order to get close enough to unleash its deadly teeth and claws.
A master of the hunt, the Predator grants the player a suite of exotic weaponry and equipment with which to stalk its unknowing prey. Earn the greatest honour by ambushing prey up-close and butchering them for a gory trophy kill.

so the reviews have been mixed. which is quite annoying , as all the big reviewers either gave it a high score or medicore.
either way , after playing a decent 2 hours on the multiplayer, i have to say this game is very very fun. Fans of the franchise will love it , if your not a fan i suggest a rent. Its different from most fps put their which is good, as some are getting quite boring.
The graphics are good , not exellent, they can be improved. However design is great really cool looking maps even tho they could of added more . dlc i guess.
the multiplayer modes are great , infestation seems most popular and predator hunt. as soon as you play few games you will begin to get use to the controls , they dont take long.
Those who played the demo and didnt like it , should definetly try this as it is diffferent. multiplayer however does need some more dlc , and they can do a bit more to it , as it seems a bit old school , but it is very fun , ive been unable to put the controler down , and it seems MW2 will be out of the machine for some time.
The campaigns however are split in three, and some have said they are short and some have said they count about right. i have not completed them yet .
the fun however is in the trophy kills , remember the gore in this game is quite detailed and just like the movies it keeps the horrofic sci-fi like mood.
the atmoshphere is some of the best ive seen in a game, great sound effects , the mood has been set right .
The multiplayer maps are short like i mentioned, but some of them have very cool elements, ie the pyrimid map can suddenly change and you will find yourself trapped in a room for some secs. All adds to the intense and excitment that the game has.

there are many more which all seem to contradict each other, ie some say the controls arent good, some say they are good.
The specie balancing ... i have found no problem with this , they all seem to be well balanced , its just a case of how good you are.
Each has their own strong point , like the alien has fast speed and agility , while the pred has strength and technology.
all i can hope for , is more maps for the multiplayer and some more MP extras, you get different skins which u unlock , but maybe they can add a bit more to it .
there is a lot they can do with this game , and genre. They obviously could of made it better, but it is rebellions first AVP on a nex gen , so hopefully they can sort theings out next time around.
apart from that i am very happy with this game . the fun factor espeically .
BUT it may not appeal to all so do check this one out.

Great Game!! 1 quick question though about the Multiplayer gaming: in the Ranked multiplayer, can anyone see the list of games available or do they simply get added to 1? I can see the list of games in the Friendly, but not the Ranked. Also, when the game finishes in Ranked, you do not stay with the same group of players. You get taken back back to the initial menu?
I bought this game today and I must say I think it's pretty good!!
I do like the Alien and Predator movies, so I was very excited about seeing this game. I have been playing the single player Marine for about 2 hours now and it is really fun and tense. The lighting in the game (or lack of!!) and atmosphere is excellent, just like in Alien/Aliens. Make sure you play this game in the dark, turn your lights off and it will make it even more fun....Trust me!!! The Marine's motion tracker definitely adds to all the excitement. As soon as you hear a blip, you know that something is round the corner......Great game, graphics are quite good but yeah they can be improved. But hey, I guess we have something to look forward to in the next AVP game?! I also heard that there was another Sega game coming out at some point called Aliens: Colonial Marines? Did anyone hear about this title?

Loved it. And still am. The online ranking and unlocking system is great and keeps you interested. The characters are all unique and have their advantages and disadvantages. The detail that has gone into the appearance of the Aliens are amazing. and like wise with the expressions of the marines as you stealth kill them with either the ruthless predators or the frightening Aliens. The campaign was great and had that gritty feel of the previous. especially the marines. That campaign was by far the most tense i've played a game since bioshock or Deadspace. The online has it's glitches but what do you expect. COD, Battlefield, MAG all have their problems. But This game was a major achievement for SEGA, hats off to them, they really deserve it. Bring on the sequel.

By far one of the most underated games i've played, Gamespot only gave this 5.5 out of 10 yet all the problems they mention with this game don't actually exist?. People seem to be having a moan about the controls which theres nothing wrong with they just take time to get used too.
Multiplayer is very good and alot of fun which is the main thing and why all the moaning about trophy kills?.
Single player is unique in that not only is there predator/alien and marine campaigns but you can start them anytime you like even if your half way through another.
Awesome Game if i was too find any fault it would be hosts leaving the game online cause they are losing how sad.

Tihs game is so gd how u can play as all three of them and they are all very gd to play and each have there on story line very well thought out and is my main reason for buyin a ps3!
